One of the agreed objectives for the Friends of Ruislip Lido was a Children’s Splash Pad located on the beach area of Ruislip Lido. A full presentation was given at the last Friends of Ruislip Committee meeting on the 8th January 2008. Hillingdon Council have committed to providing the funds for its construction and are also leading on the project with an undertaking for close consultation between all parties, including the Friends. The first meeting to discuss proposals is on Friday 7th February 2008, two representatives from the Friends of Ruislip will be present. Further meetings will be taking place to finalise details around the design and location of the Splash Pad.

If you have any views specifically on the detail of construction or design of the Splash Pad please add your comments below or ring Friends of Ruislip Lido (Telephone 0780 462 6007) and leave a message.

Go fetch Zebedee

By Mark at 6:31 pm on Tuesday, March 4, 2008

Back before Christmas, when Martin was building the northern wicker fence on the cleared beach, David Munroe’s dog Zebedee trained him to throw the toy bone. On this particular occasion, a very cold and windy day, Zebedee had been in a few times and was cold, soaking wet and shivering. Martin threw the toy so far out into the Lido that Zebedee made it quite clear that he wasn’t going to go and get it!!! Martin, luckily, was wearing his deep waders. Despite a leak in the leg of the waders he waded out into the Lido, rescuing the toy bone just before it sank, and in the fashion of true heroes, he returned to the shore clutching the rescued toy!!! Zebedee was very grateful indeed.
