Feeding the Splash Pad

Water Pipe

It transpires that the existing water supply at the beach doesn’t have adequate pressure to drive the splash pad so a new supply has been installed.  Running from the road and under the Lido it will be held down with sandbags.

When the Lido was constructed in 1811 its purpose was to act as a feeder pipe to top up the Grand Union Canal thereby enabling the Industrial Revolution.

Now, 200 years later, its role is to act as a cover for a feeder pipe to top up splash pad.

How much more money has this cost us the rate payer? The construction of this waste of space has taken longer than expected, it wasn’t even available for the children to use during this (a typical English) summer. What a shambles!

Well said Sue, Perhaps all the yummy mummies who thought for some strange reason they were getting a splash pool for the summer would like to comment now.

…and just 5 days after your winge, what do you have to say now? Why not be a bit more positive when people are trying hard to make a difference, it’s so easy to moan.

Quite right Yummy-Mummy you tell those wingers, the splash area is fantastic. Hope all the toddlers have great fun splashing around especially when they are joined by their 14 years old playmates! That’s the age group that are allowed to play in this new area. Who knows they might be the same 14 year olds that graffiti and smash bottles along the beach area.

Really James, is it better not to try and improve anything just in case the minority spoil it for the majority? It’s lucky people didn’t think in that negative way when the plans were first drawn up to revitalise the lido after it fell into complete disrepair in the 1980s.
