I would like to correct a report published in the Gazette this week. It stated that the Friends handed in a petition this week to the council. This was not correct. That was an independent petition and was not linked to the friends, although I am aware that this petition did represent many of our views and was primarily against boating and the car park extension.

We are awaiting sight of the environmental report into the water level and quality. Until this is reviewed it is unclear how many of the the proposals are actually feasible. Once this is clear if it shows boating is a possibility we will begin a campaign and if necessary a petition.

In the mean time we are fighting for a Beach Warden, rain sheleters and additional ‘Dog Dirt’ bins to be included in the proposals. Also that anything that is agreed such as the toilets are completed to a high standard.

We are attending meetings with the council and will keep you updated.
