Extra parking

Recently residnents in Lakeside Close received this communication from Hillingdon Council.

We are planning to increase the car parking available to Lido users asap. Some people have objected to this but I will ensure that we now proceed as fast as possible. The case for additional parking is obvious regardless of what improvements are undertaken to Lido facilities. Thank you for drawing this to my attention.

Extra parking survey at Ruislip Lido

  1. This car park will not solve any problems, there is still only one road to enter and exit, the council will do what it wants to do not caring what residents thoughts on the matter. Why not turn the whole of The Lido into ONE BIG CARPARK!!!and be finished with it :(

  2. The council is now manipulating its own failure to provide traffic control and parking enforcement at the Lido to push through these plans.

  3. On a sunny weekend day up to 3,500 people will visit the Lido. Assuming there are 3 people for each car(the standard ratio for surveys) that is 1.000 cars. So a rich wooded area and haven for wildlife is being destroyed for 170 spaces which will make no difference and will be unused most of the year.

  4. This rather ridiculous plan shows the lack of ability of the Leader of the Council to “think outside the box”. The issue is the number of vehicles that want to use the limited car-parking, accessed through one residential road. The term “restored to its former level as a tourist attraction” has been used a good few times.
In the days of its former popularity, the LT bus, the 114, was a single-decker bus during the week, and then a double-decker on weekends, public holidays and throughout the school holidays, and it ran every 10 minutes. So if our wonderful Leader spent a little time on this a solution stares him in the face.
Ruislip Station and West Ruislip Station both have large car-parks that are empty at weekends. Approach his friend Boris, arrange a deal for free parking and then run a double-decker shuttle, at 10 minute intervals, and the problem is solved.
Quite simple really. I can understand why a politician cannot see it. They never look for the simple solution.
