I hear that the Council are to reapply for planning permission for a 160 place car park just where I was talking about previously with the tiny Goldcrest pair looking where to nest. I’ve seen Willow Warblers, Chiffchaffs, Gold finches and many more birds there. What can we all do to help save the area for the wildlife?

I saw a Great Smew the other day, such a pretty bird. The tiny Goldcrests are really busy looking for places to build their nests in the wooded area on the left past willow lawn. Where the Car Park proposed to be. Check out all the wildlife there while you still can.

IN VIEW OF THE OUTCOME OF THE ENVIRONMENT AGENTCY REPORT ON THE LIDO WATER LEVEL, AND RAY PUDDIFOOT BEING QUOTED IN THIS WEEKS LEADER AS SAYING ” THE CAR PARK APPLICATION COULD BE SUBMITTED WITHIN WEEKS ” AND ” WE EXPECT THE NEW CAR PARK TO BE BUILT THIS YEAR ” IT POSES THE QUESTION , WHAT ACTION ARE THE F.O.R.L. GOING TO TAKE NOW ?

As I understand it, the tendering process for the Kiosk/Cafe has been concluded. However, there is still no date for when the new arrangements (whatever they are) will come into force. Likewise, there is no information on what the Council’s plans are. In the meantime, it’s just dragging on and on. Not acceptable!

Was it a good idea to let off fireworks with all the birds and wildlife in the area? It’s lovely to celebrate, but fireworks? Most odd.

From the content of the final paragragh of this posting, it would now seem that the council is treating the R.L.M.A.G. as a nonentity. Perhaps the Friends along with other disillusioned members of the MAG should raise a sizeable petition expressing our dissatisfaction with the way that MAG is being treated and if the Council refuses to take our concerns on board we should enlist the help of the press

I’m all in favour of the fireworks display to mark the 200th anniversary of the Lido; the community feeling it will inspire is well worth the cost. However I note that only “families” are invited to attend – I don’t have kids, so can’t I go?

Well I’m so glad the council has money to shoot in the air and blow up. Thats just typical of Hillingdon Council’s priorities. If they are going to have the usual loud display fireworks, what about all the birds and wildlife? Its hardly an appropriate environment to let off fireworks.

Hi David
This is the Friends of Ruislip Lido site so it won’t be publishing MAG minutes.
However I’m led to believe the MAG minutes are on the Lido noticeboard in accordance with the MAG constitution.
