Fishing and Swimming

Big FishWe’ve added a page for the rules and regulations for fishing and swimming – see rules.

The fish on the right wasn’t really caught in the Lido, it was caugt in Google, but you never know what you might catch so keep living the dream!

Shed burnt to a cinder

Last night a storage shed near the beach burnt to the ground. There were electric circuits in the shed, but these had a safety check last week, so they were unlikey to have started the blaze. Although there is no proof yet the likelyhood is the fire was started by mindless vandals.

Sean, the lido ranger, was on the scene early organising contractors to make safe the electric supply and cut off the water feed.

The Cows are back in town!

The cows are back on the common adjacent to the Lido. This year they have suprisingly big horns which look a bit intimidating but they seem docile and friendly. People seem to have the Marmite feeling towards the cows. Personally I like them but wish our dog didn’t derive so much pleasure from rolling in what they leave behind.

Ongoing improvements

The Witches Hat has been added to the playground area. Foundations have been laid for the shelter; as expected this event triggered the onset of Spring and we may not see any more rain for months.

To get things started here’s a list of current ongoing work:

  • Rain shelter being built
  • Upgrade playgroung equipment

Items under review are:

  • Car park charging
  • Water feature/splash area beach side

We’ll post more details on the above as each item develops.

And if you haven’t noticed the Ruislip Lido Woodland Centre at the Boathouse end of the Water’s Edge Pub has been refurbished and will be open Sundays 10 till 3pm and occasional days in the week when staffing permit.
